Three-day Visit to Pyongyang

June 13

9:00 - South Korean President Kim Dae Jung flew into Pyongyang from Seoul.

10:30 - President Kim Dae Jung arrived at Pyongyang airport. General Secretary Kim Jong Il greeted him at the airport together with the DPRK high-ranking officials.

11:45 - General Secretary Kim Jong Il and President Kim Dae Jung held the first round of summit talks at the Paekhwawon State Guesthouse.

16:00 - President Kim Dae Jung and his entourage attended a music and dance performance given by Pyongyang artistes at the Mansudae Art Theater.

19:10 - Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the SPA of the DPRK hosted a banquet for President Kim Dae Jung at the People’s Palace of Culture.

June 14

9:30 - The north side headed by President Kim Yong Nam of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, and the south side led by President Kim Dae Jung held extended inter-Korean highest-level talks at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

11:35 - President Kim Dae Jung and his entourage visited the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace. Ri Hui Ho, south Korean first lady, visited the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, the Pyongyang Embroidery Institute and the Changgwang Kindergarten, while President Kim’s suite members visited the Grand People’s Study House, the Mansudae Art Studio and the Pyongyang metro.

13:15 - President Kim Dae Jung and his party had lunch at Okryugwan restaurant noted for its cold noodles.

15:00 - The second round of inter-Korean summit talks was held between General Secretary Kim Jong Il and President Kim Dae Jung at the Paekhwawon State Guesthouse.

18:05 - The talks were resumed after 30-minutes recess.

19:00 - President Kim Dae Jung hosted a banquet at the Mokran House in Pyongyang in return for the banquet, which SPA President Kim Yong Nam hosted on June 13.

23:20 - General Secretary Kim Jong Il and President Kim Dae Jung signed a North-South Joint Declaration.

June 15

12:20 - General Secretary Kim Jong Il arranged a farewell luncheon for President Kim Dae Jung and his party at the Paekhwawon Guesthouse.

16:15 - President Kim Dae Jung left Pyongyang for Seoul.

17:25 - President Kim Dae Jung arrived at Seoul Airport.
