During this period General Kim Jong Il went round newly built medium- and small-sized power stations, factories and enterprises, villages and towns including Kanggye City, Janggang Township, Songgan Township and Jonchon Township.

At first he visited medium- and small-sized power stations such as the Janggang No. 1 and No. 2 Power Stations, the Jangjasan Power Station, the Pukchongang No.3 Power Station, the Namri Power Station and the Oejung Power Station built in Kanggye city and Janggang and Songgan counties.

He looked round the power stations of various types built in small and large rivers and the new dwelling houses the heating system of which is backed by electricity produced at the power stations.

He then visited the Kanggye Tractor Complex, the February Steel Complex, the February 8 Machine Complex and the Kanggye Precision Machine Complex, met with workers and learned about the production.

4 -- Inspects an armored infantry company of Combined Unit No. 757 of the KPA.

8 -- Looks round programs presented to the national program contest and exhibition.

He called for developing Korean-style computer industry and inventing larger numbers of necessary programs so that program technology may pay off in making the national economy Juche-oriented, modernized and scientized.

20 -- Sees a performance given by the merited choir of the KPA song and dance ensemble.

- Meets with makers of the working class parts of the multi-part feature film "The Nation and Destiny." He then gave important tasks to be taken as guidelines in film making.

24 -- Inspects Unit No. 224. General Secretary Kim Jong Il learned about the topographical features and things of the area and about military deployment and acquainted himself with the enemy's situation, looking towards enemy-controlled Kanghwa and Kyodong islands, some 2,000 meters away from the post.

- Inspects KPA Unit No. 230 on the same day. The unit was visited by President Kim Il Sung in September 1979.
